Currently, we are looking for a Director, Process Improvement to join the ArcBest team.  The Director of Process Improvement is directly responsible for the execution of improvement strategies within Customer Solutions.  This is accomplished by ensuring organizational alignment in the core functions of operations and technology.  The Director of Process Improvement provides specialized support to ensure consistency in approach and execution across the organization.  The Director of Process Improvement is responsible for the identification of performance variations and opportunities; providing oversight to subsequent plans and driving execution .  The Director of Process Improvement executes the performance improvement strategic vision by collaborating with organizational leaders to ensure execution and alignment across the company.  The Director of Process Improvement must possess strategic vision, excellent communication skills, proven motivational capabilities, have an executive presence and a demonstrated track record of delivering results and attaining goals.  

Your contribution may include:

  • Collaborates with division and corporate groups to ensure consistency in approach and execution of performance improvement strategies.
  • Coordinate division and corporate resources to ensure the successful execution of the established Customer Solutions performance agenda.
  • Prioritize Process Improvement work based upon the needs of the business and in accordance and alignment with company strategy.
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to achieve standardized processes and workflows with reduced waste and re-work, to provide a high quality customer experience.


  • The director oversees a team of analysts and managers which:
    • Derives actionable insights and develops business strategy through use of data and metrics.
    • Develops KPIs and associated reporting to monitor progress toward goals.
    • Manages the technology agenda within Customer Solutions.
    • Stays abreast of technological capabilities and emerging trends within industry and leads new initiatives within relevant areas.

As a Director, Process Improvement, you will be a member of the ArcBest Customer Solutions: Process Imp team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on work load.

Ready to apply? Before doing so, please make sure you meet the minimum requirements:

  • College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • 10 or more years of experience in the transportation logistics industry.
  • 5 or more years of experience leading projects, mentoring and leading teams with a demonstrated high degree of accuracy and sound decision-making.  Ability to lead projects through an ambiguous, conceptual state to an organized deliverable.
  • Strong research, problem solving, analytic, business analysis and project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and build consensus among executive level stakeholders with different objectives and perspective.
